From the JCR President

Welcome to the Lincoln JCR Website!

I’m Rachel, a second-year historian, and as JCR President, I head the JCR Committee which is elected to serve members of the JCR. This means my role is fairly broad, and extends to answering questions posed by current or prospective students – feel free to email with any queries! I live in Room 4 on Staircase 1 so you can come there too if you need help or want a question answered.

It’s a cliché, but it’s very true – the JCR is effectively Lincoln’s mini student union that represents undergraduates at college and university level, ensuring that you have an effective medium of communication to the authorities that affect you on a day-to-day basis. In addition to this, the JCR provides a wide variety of services to its members – from Welfare Teas to Bops. The JCR also has a room that can be found on chapel quad, and to quote former President Jono Lain: ‘you’re almost certain to find a friendly face in there at all times.’

JCR Meetings are held on Sundays in 2nd, 5th and 8th Week, and all undergraduates are strongly encouraged to attend, as a number of issues are decided here that affect undergraduate life at Lincoln. In particular, it is in these meetings that the JCR decides how to spend its budget.

The Lincoln JCR Committee has you covered. Whether you want help with housing, need to talk about work, have a desire to declare war on another college or would simply like a cookie, there is an officer able to assist.

You can find out more about each of the members of the JCR Committee by going to the Committee page, available here.

All of the JCR documents, including the constitution and policy document, can be found on the Documents page, available here

Prospective students can find more information, and alternative contact links, on the prospective student page, available by clicking here.

The Lincoln College Vacation Project is a registered charity run by members of the Junior Common Room. Each year the charity endeavours to provide a holiday for up to 40 children from extremely disadvantaged backgrounds in the local community. To find out more about vacproj, visit the website at
